PES set to scale new heights with significant investment

We’re very excited to announce that PES has received a substantial investment from private equity firm Chiltern Capital.

Chiltern Capital specialises in backing businesses that are established and profitable with evident capacity for growth. We’re delighted that they have spotted our potential and are impressed by our ambitious plans.

‘This is a tremendous opportunity for PES and we’re really looking forward to scaling new heights,’ says founder and CEO Ian Rummels (pictured below). ‘PES are already innovators in the field. We provide smaller and mid-tier businesses with a technically robust, fully-serviced employee benefits and broking solution, something very few – if any – of our competitors do.’

‘Not only that, employee benefit providers are now coming to us and wanting to change their offering thanks to the market insights and technical capabilities we provide. PES is truly at the forefront of industry developments for the small to mid-tier market sector, and we’re delighted that this has been recognised.’

Investing in the employee experience

‘The investment means that we can broaden our technical solution to help our clients deliver an even better employee experience,’ continues Ian. ‘With our expertise in HR and wellbeing, as well as employee benefits, we’re ideally placed to do this. We can harness our skills in these areas and our core technology to give organisations the tools they need to compete against bigger companies for hard-working, loyal and motivated employees.’

‘That said, PES remains a business with people at its heart. Technology can support clients and employee satisfaction, but ultimately our values of working together and doing the right thing will drive our growth in future years.’

Alex Sheffield, Partner at Chiltern Capital, said, ‘As investors, we focus on exciting businesses ready to take the next step. PES fits this profile perfectly. Over the last few months we have got to know Ian and the team well and we’re looking forward to seeing the business flourish.’

A brief history of PES

PES was founded by CEO (Head of Thinking and Possibilities) Ian Rummels in 2001 as an employee benefits consultancy. He identified the potential of technology of using technology to engage employees and set about designing an online employee benefits solution for smaller and mid-tier businesses.

Investment from Angels4Angels enabled PES to launch happypeople, a proprietary online benefits platform, sowing the seeds for further growth. Regulated subsidiaries PES Health (now in receipt of five industry excellence awards) and PES Financial Services were launched in 2014 and 2016 respectively.

In 2017, we launched PES Wellbeing, another arm of the business providing a holistic, measurable approach to employee health and wellbeing. This complements the independent, expert HR advice and support PES has always offered its clients alongside employee benefits.
